Yes. Arca is free during the private alpha, with no account and no credit card. It runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 13 and later).
How does Arca stop me from pasting an API key into ChatGPT?
The moment you copy something that looks like a secret — an API key, a token, a password — Arca seals it into an encrypted placeholder on your Mac. Paste that into ChatGPT, Claude, or any chat and only the placeholder goes through; copy the reply back and Arca restores the real value exactly where it belongs.
Does Arca send my clipboard to the cloud?
No. Nothing ever leaves your Mac. Your history is stored locally, secrets are encrypted with AES-256 using a key kept in your macOS Keychain, and there is no server, account, or sync.
Is Arca a good Maccy alternative?
If you like Maccy, Arca will feel familiar — it's keyboard-first, opens with ⌘⇧C by default, and imports your existing Maccy or Clipy history in one click. On top of that it adds search by meaning, secret sealing, and automatic typo fixing.
What does “find it by meaning” actually mean?
Every search runs two engines at once: one matches the exact words you typed, the other matches what you meant — so “that Zoom link” or “the database password” finds the right clip even when you can't recall the wording. The two sets of results are ranked together, and long clips are indexed all the way through, so something buried at the bottom of a big paste is just as findable as the first line. The search model runs entirely on your Mac.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything runs on-device. Search by meaning downloads a small language model once on first launch, then works without an internet connection.
Does Arca fix typos automatically?
Yes. Prose you copy is corrected on-device the moment you copy it, so an ordinary ⌘V pastes the fixed text anywhere. Code, links, and config are never touched, and you can switch it off in Settings.
